A Guided Pack Trip Through the Spanish Peaks

Big Sky sits surrounded by mountains in every direction. The Madison Range rises right out of town, the Gallatin Range holds the eastern skyline, and Yellowstone National Park stretches out to the southwest. It's wild, high elevation country, and one of the best ways to see it is on horseback with a few days set aside and nowhere else to be.

This guided pack trip loops through the Spanish Peaks starting and ending at the Spanish Creek Trailhead. The route climbs to Beacon Point, drops down to Thompson Lakes, crosses up and over Summit Lake, then descends into Mirror Basin before following the trail back down to Spanish Creek. It's a route that covers a wide, dramatic stretch of the Spanish Peaks, with alpine lakes, high passes, and classic Montana backcountry the whole way.

Your guide handles the packing, the route, and the camp, so you can focus on the ride and the scenery. Horses carry the gear, the miles go by at a comfortable pace, and each night ends at a new camp deep in the mountains.
