Norris Geyser Basin

A short walk takes you through the Porcelain Basin and Back Basin, each packed with geysers, hot springs, and thermal features found nowhere else on earth — including Steamboat Geyser, the tallest active geyser in the world. It's the ideal place to understand what makes this park geologically unique.
Mammoth Hot Springs
The largest travertine terraces on the planet, built up over centuries by continuous mineral deposits from a rich underground aquifer. We walk the boardwalks past Palette Spring, Canary Spring, and Orange Mound Spring. Mammoth also serves as park headquarters and home to historic Fort Yellowstone, and elk are frequently seen throughout the area.
Yellowstone Lake
The largest alpine lake in North America above 7,000 feet, ringed by the Absaroka Mountains and Mount Sheridan. The tour explores Fishing Bridge and the historic Lake Hotel, and the shoreline is often a productive place to spot grizzly bears.
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
One of the park's most photographed landscapes, and calling it beautiful undersells it. Geothermal activity cooked the volcanic rock here into extraordinary color. You'll take in Artist's Point, the Brink of the Upper Falls, and the 308-foot Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River — nearly twice the height of Niagara.
Hayden Valley
A broad, wildlife-rich valley at the center of the park and prime habitat for bison, elk, grizzly bears, and birds of prey. It's also home range for the well-known Wapiti Lake wolf pack. We provide scopes and optics for viewing animals both large and small, and the valley's many overlooks offer excellent photography.
